Synopsis:
The beast raged; it punctured the air with its spite. But the girl was fiercer.
Tea is different from the other witches in her family. Her gift for necromancy makes her a bone witch, who are feared and ostracized in the kingdom. For theirs is a powerful, elemental magic that can reach beyond the boundaries of the living—and of the human.
Great power comes at a price, forcing Tea to leave her homeland to train under the guidance of an older, wiser bone witch. There, Tea puts all of her energy into becoming an asha, learning to control her elemental magic and those beasts who will submit by no other force. And Tea must be strong—stronger than she even believes possible. Because war is brewing in the eight kingdoms, war that will threaten the sovereignty of her homeland…and threaten the very survival of those she loves.
Review:
Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks Fire for a free digital advanced copy of this book.
I tried looking for things I might see in this book that will keep me going. But, this book is not for me. Nothing happened. It might be amusing, but, it is not (for me). But why? Why can’t I find to look forward for the next page and to keep reading this? It is because mid-reading I already lost my interest. I can’t feel the connection to the characters. No connection at all.
It disappoint me. I expected A LOT from this book but it saddens me as I didn’t enjoy it.
Wow. Did you read the whole book and it just was that bad? 😲🙀

Yes. I tried my best to like it but I can’t bring myself to do it. When I realized I can’t enjoy this book I was forcing myself to finish it and hoped that at some point or in some part maybe I can still enjoy it.

Hey, I think we all do that, especially with hyped books. And that cover is so stunning you want to like the book. Well, I will read it only bc I have the galley, the ARC, AND the finished copy…all from winning them (and Netgalley). So I have to read it! 🤷♀️
